Eros is named after the Greek deity in charge of love, and also after the philosophical concept of romantic love. The piece is written from the perspective of a person at the end of their life thinking back upon a youthful love affair.  The violin and cello represent the pair of lovers.  The overall mood of the piece is best described as one of “melancholic joy.”

I worked on this piece from October 20- November 20 of 2014.  This recording was taken on April 13th, 2015 during a live performance at the University of Northern Iowa.  It was brought to life by Jessica Monnier (piano), Anne Sloter (violin), and Jonathan Haverdink (cello).
